The House of Salm-Salm has faced the challenges of sustainable management for 32 generations. Against the historical background of viticulture, forestry, and agriculture within the family\u2019s own operations, the guiding principle for generations has been to pass something on in better condition than it was received. The sustainable management of forests and agricultural land is therefore at the core of our corporate philosophy. In view of today\u2019s climatic challenges, it has never been more important to integrate land and forestry investments into a diversified investment portfolio. Global urbanization and ambitious climate targets, above all the reduction of carbon emissions by 2050, require new, responsible strategies in dealing with natural resources. Carbon Storage<\/h2><\/div><\/div>

We plant fast-growing, site-appropriate tree species that absorb particularly large amounts of CO\u2082. A large portion of the harvested wood is used as construction timber, ensuring that the bound carbon remains stored over the long term. \n\nAfter every logging operation, we ensure reforestation of the areas so that carbon storage is sustainably maintained.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Promotion of Biodiversity<\/h2><\/div><\/div>

Of particular ecological value are the streams running through the property and the adjacent \u201cbuffer zones,\u201d which are mostly stocked with near-natural deciduous forests. \n<\/br><\/br>\nThe streams and riparian zones are important habitats for numerous species of fish, mollusks, insects, mammals, and birds. As part of \u201cstream zone management,\u201d we protect these areas to allow space for natural development and to promote biodiversity.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Before acquiring any land, we assess ecological risks through environmental impact studies.
